Review the quick guide on creating or troubleshooting your login for the new FBA Online Portal.
**LAST UPDATED: May 18, 2026
Q: My profile currently has an expiration date of 9/30/2025 — am I still a member?
A: NO, but you can keep your FBA membership whole for the 2025-26 term by logging into the FBA Online Portal and navigating to your original renewal invoice in the Financials menu. If you do not need to keep your membership whole and are OK with a new Join Date, please contact staff to prepare your account for a Rejoin at www.fedbar.org/help.
Q: When can I renew for the 2026-27 term?
A: If you have an Active membership with a 9/30/2026 expiration date, you can actually log in now and renew for 2026-27. However, if you are under a Law Firm Membership or if your firm participates in Consolidated Billing, FBA staff will coordinate renewal with your office’s billing contact – no need to renew individually.
Q: I am on Autorenewal in the new system; when will my credit card be processed for 2026-27 renewal?
A: FBA staff will process autorenewal payments mid-July for the 2026-27 term. Participants will receive notification of the impending charge and given an opportunity to manage their payment settings.
Q: Can I enroll in Autorenewal now for the 2026-27 term?
A: YES! It’s easy to add a credit card to your FBA account for payment of dues: (a) go through one-time account login setup process listed above to enable access to the FBA Online Portal, and then (b) in the What Would You Like to Do? area, click on SET UP AUTO RENEWAL and go through the steps!
Q: Did I renew successfully for the 2026-27 term?
A: Here’s the way to check if your membership was renewed successfully: after verifying your Online Portal account per the above steps, log into your account – your Expiration Date will be prominent on your Account Home Screen – if your expiration date says 9/30/2026, then you still need to renew for the 2026-27 term. But again as above: if you are under a Law Firm Membership or if your firm participates in Consolidated Billing, FBA staff will coordinate renewal with your office’s billing contact – no need to renew individually.
Q: I keep getting renewal messages but I thought my firm/organization already renewed my membership?
A: It can take a few days to go from your organization’s internal check/payment request, to delivery, to bank processing, and then to FBA staff processing. If your organization has sent an internal message that your membership has been addressed, please disregard any renewal communications while payment is in transit.
Q: Where do I send payment by mail?
A: Checks for any type of FBA payment (membership, events, donations) should be made payable to Federal Bar Association and sent to:
Federal Bar Association
P.O. Box 79395
Baltimore, MD 21279-0395
NOTE: online payment via electronic check is now available in the new Online Portal!
Q: What are the national membership dues rates?
A: View all membership categories, which include the rates outlined in our new membership dues structure. There are also links to Firm Membership information.
Q: My Practice Type/Sector has changed since the last time I renewed and my membership dues amount may have changed as well – how can my renewal reflect any changes in dues?
A: If you update your profile by logging into the Online Portal prior to July, then your renewal statement will reflect your Practice changes and your dues will reflect the changes. If your invoice does not reflect your current Practice Type, please contact the FBA and we will make the adjustment and re-issue your invoice.
Q: I have other FBA membership questions.
A: Head over to the main FAQ here.
