Given the increased urgency to improve access to justice and to remove systemic racial and socio-economic disparities in our country, pro bono work is needed now more than ever. The Younger Lawyers Division is challenging its members as part of our StepUp Pro Bono Challenge to complete at least 50 hours of pro bono work (i.e., at no fee and without expectation of a fee) related to these issues for (1) nonprofit organizations or (2) low-income individuals.

To take part in the challenge, the pro bono hours must be performed between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024. Once you have completed the challenge, please contact Daniel Hamilton, Program Coordinator, and in 1 to 2 sentences, identify the amount of pro bono hours worked, the time period that the work was performed, and the type of services performed. The YLD will give special recognition on our web page to members who complete the challenge.

For a list of resources and pro bono opportunities, please see below. Of course, pro bono work should not begin and end with this challenge. It is our expectation that the pro bono work will be ongoing, as that is what is expected of us, and it is simply the right thing to do.
