Message from the President:

I am honored to take on the role of President of the FBA Washington State Chapter, and follow in the footsteps of Susan Pitchford, one of my co-founders of the Chapter, which we formed in 2020 in the midst of the global pandemic. Membership is comprised of any active member of the Federal Bar Association who resides or has an office or employment in Washington State.

Our Chapter is committed to striving to promote professionalism, collegiality, and inclusiveness, serving as a bridge between the federal bench and the bar throughout Washington. We aim to provide our members with meaningful opportunities for connection through the National FBA network and for career development in the federal practice of law.

We are very proud to have won an FBA Presidential Achievement Award in our inaugural year, 2020 – 2021.  We are also pleased to serve as pilot Chapter for the National Diversity & Inclusion initiative that is underway, and to be the first FBA chapter to have a Native American tribal attorney representative on our Board.

While we will offer events remotely, we look forward to creating opportunities for our members to interact with colleagues in the bar, law schools, the community, and the judiciary.

I want to conclude with the Statement on Equal Justice – Federal Bar Association (fedbar.org), which reaffirms the FBA’s dedication to promoting equal justice under the law.  The statement notes that the “arc of the moral universe does not bend toward justice on its own.”  I echo that expression, and feel a sense of appreciation with the community we have within the FBA as we forge our path ahead together.
