About the Presenters

Jake Heller, CEO & co-founder, Casetext

Jake is the Founder and CEO of Casetext. Jake was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and the Fastcase 50 for legal innovation for his work at Casetext. Before starting Casetext, Jake was a litigator at Ropes & Gray. He graduated from Stanford Law School, where he was president of Stanford Law Review, and clerked for Judge Michael Boudin on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He’s a Silicon Valley native, and has been programming since childhood.

Cat Casey, Chief Innovation Officer, DISCO

Alma Asay, Evangelist, Litera Microsystems

Alma Asay is an Evangelist at Litera, where she engages with clients and the broader legal community to understand and address legal innovation trends and challenges. Before joining Litera, Alma was the Founder of Allegory, a litigation management platform that she sold to Integreon in 2017. Alma founded Allegory based on her years of experience as a litigator at Gibson Dunn, where she was a go-to second chair for one of the top trial attorneys in the country on complex, high-stakes litigation for large entertainment companies such as IAC/InterActiveCorp, NBC Universal, and Cablevision. In 2016, Alma was named one of the ABA’s Legal Technology Resource Center’s 10 “Women of Legal Tech” and one of the Fastcase 50 “[h]onoring the law’s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, & leaders.” In 2017, Alma was awarded the prestigious “Legal Rebel” title by the ABA. Alma earned her J.D. from NYU School of Law.

Nathan Wenzel, Founder, SimpleLegal

Nathan is the co-founder of SimpleLegal. He brings more than 20 years of experience in business intelligence and analytic applications. As the company’s founder and chief evangelizer, Nathan is actively involved with SimpleLegal customers and the market to drive industry growth including pushing the practical use cases for AI.
Prior to SimpleLegal, Nathan was a founding partner of Edge Solutions, Inc., a business intelligence and analytics consulting firm. He oversaw the development of the CLVR suite of analytic and machine learning applications for litigation management, corporate legal departments, and insurance companies.
