Scott Lopez is a partner at Lawson & Weitzen, LLP where he concentrates his practice on white collar criminal defense and complex business litigation. He is a veteran trial lawyer with over 29 years of experience in criminal and civil litigation and government enforcement matters. Scott began his career as an assistant district attorney in Bristol County. He later joined and became a partner at Segal & Feinberg, focusing his practice on civil litigation and white collar crime. Before joining Lawson & Weitzen, he was a solo practitioner for 13 years.

Scott is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law School. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.

He is currently serving as the Past President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Prior to his presidency, he held the leadership positions of treasurer, vice president and president-elect. During his presidency (2016-2017), the Mass. Chapter received a Presidential Excellence Award and an Outstanding Newsletter Award at the FBA’s Annual Meeting. Scott has been a Board member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the FBA since 2009.

Scott has earned the respect of members of both the Bar and Judiciary. He is an AV Preeminent peer rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell since 1997, and a Judicial Edition “AV” Preeminent designation by Martindale-Hubbell since 2013. Also, Scott has had a Massachusetts Super Lawyers designation in white collar criminal defense since 2013 and he is further recognized as one of Boston’s Top Rated Lawyers. Finally, he is one of only 90 Criminal Justice Act Attorneys for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts for the Boston Division.
