Daron T. Carreiro

Daron T. Carreiro is a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Indian Resources Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD). He handles litigation involving federal reserved Indian water rights, tribal treaty rights, reservation boundaries, taxation, tribal jurisdiction, and agency actions affecting tribal interests. He previously served as Senior Counsel for Native American Affairs to the Assistant Attorney General, where he provided counsel to the Assistant Attorney General and other members of ENRD’s front office on Indian country issues. Before joining DOJ, Daron worked in private practice representing clients in complex civil litigation matters. Prior to law school, he worked for the Chickasaw Nation, representing the Tribe before Congress and federal agencies. Daron is an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation and a past president of the Native American Bar Association of Washington, D.C.
