Dan has earned the trust of judges, attorneys, and clients. His practice involves both high-stakes business litigation and complex commercial matters, including breach of contract, class actions, partnership and shareholder disputes, insurance coverage disputes for policyholders, and business torts (including fraud, tortious interference, and defamation).
He is passionate about helping families in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability cases. Dan’s defense-side experience makes him an especially effective advocate who can structure a case to neutralize defense tactics. For example, having defended automobile manufacturers and trucking companies, Dan understands where and how defense attorneys will attack in auto accidents and trucking accident cases. His prior involvement in defending construction and other industrial clients likewise gives him the background necessary when representing individuals catastrophically injured at worksites, factories with heavy machinery and equipment, and in various industrial settings.
With a dynamic litigation background, Dan makes an immediate impact in any court case, and he is consistently brought in when the trajectory of bet-the-company litigation veers off course. He has been selected by counsel and judges in high-profile controversies, ranging from a post-trial mediation where the team successfully secured millions in savings for a utility company to multi-million-dollar insurance recovery actions to managing a large pharmaceutical mass action.
Further, Dan’s breadth of experience in federal court—having clerked for Chief Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and Circuit Judge Ralph R. Erickson in the United State Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit—makes him a sought-after local counsel in Missouri and Illinois.
Dan has been recognized for his service in the community. He has received recognition for his contributions at the Missouri House of Representatives, Department of Defense, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Homeland Security. He is also proud to have been elected to leadership positions in the community, including executive positions in the Federal Bar Association and Co-Chair of the Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition. And for years,
Dan guided and mentored law students at Washington University School of Law by serving as an adjunct professor in U.S. Law & Methods.
