Central District of Illinois Chapter’s Annual Summer Seminar

On July 20, 2016, the Central District of Illinois Chapter held their Annual Summer Seminar. During the Seminar there were presentations about “demystifying federal court,” a refresher course on the Federal Rules of Evidence and privileges, filing confidential documents, an overview of the Local Rules of the Central District of Illinois, and a presentation about what happens when a civil attorney has a client who is served with a search warrant by federal or state agents. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Hon. James Shadid, Chief Judge of the Central District of Illinois; Hon. Sue Myerscough of the Springfield division of the Central District of Illinois; Assistant Federal Public Defender Robert Alvarado; the career law clerks of the Hon. Michael Mihm and Hon. Joe Billy McDade; in addition to many more. Of the nearly 100 attendees, live and webinar combined, the Central District of Illinois Chapter had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Sheri Mecklenburg, Vice President for the Seventh Circuit, and Ms. Maria Vathis, newly-elected Treasurer of the Federal Bar Association. The Central District of Illinois Chapter would like to thank all those who attended, and the Chapter welcomes you all to attend any of its future events.
