Nadia Murad is a 26-year-old Yazidi woman who was captured by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS). She was a victim of war crimes and has refused to accept the social norm that women should remain silent and ashamed of the abuses to which they have been subjected.

In 2016, I was given the wonderful opportunity to serve as general counsel (GC) of a newly formed publicly traded company. I had been dreaming about becoming a GC for several years and thus had been actively been preparing myself for the moment when the opportunity would present itself.
