Northern District of California Chapter: Restoration and Recovery of Art Stolen by Nazis

This will be a panel discussion of the efforts to recover stolen artwork by the Nazis during WWII.

• RICHARD ARONOWITZ—Global Head of Restitution for Christies
• JUDGE SIMON FRANKEL—San Francisco Superior Court. Prior the joining the bench, he litigated cases involving the return of art.
• PATRICK RYAN—attorney at Bartko LLP who has been involved in litigation to recover stolen art.
• KARREN SHOROFSKY—Professor at the University of San Francisco, Museum Studies Graduate Program & School of Law. Prof. Shorofsky has spent most of her own law career focused on legal issues related to the arts, technology, and museums and other nonprofit institutions. Before joining USF, Karren worked in the general counsel’s office of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and practiced Intellectual Property law with major San Francisco law firms as an Associate, Partner and Of Counsel.
