John W. Peck Cincinnati-Northern KY Chapter: Federal Practice Seminar for the Southern District of Ohio

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio Federal Practice Seminar is open to all attorneys, including those already admitted to practice in the Southern District of Ohio and those seeking admission. This seminar is specially designed for lawyers seeking admission to practice in the Southern District of Ohio. Speakers will discuss practice before the District Judges and Magistrate Judges, and practice in Bankruptcy Court. Speakers will also discuss the Local Rules, the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

All attorneys seeking admission to the bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio must attend one such seminar. It is offered twice per year in Cincinnati. The Swearing In of newly admitted attorneys will take place at the conclusion of the Federal Practice Seminar.

8:30-9:30: Practice and Customs in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio (“S.D. Ohio”)

9:30- 10:00 AM: Application of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure to the Real World

10:00-10:10: Break

10:10AM- 10:40 AM: An Introduction to Bankruptcy

10-:40-11:10: Practice Before the Magistrate Judges

11:10-11:20: Break

11:20-11:50: Nuts and Bolts of Practicing in the S.D. Ohio; Practitioner’s Point of View

11:50- 12:15 PM: Mandatory Certification of Attendance and Swearing in Ceremony
