Welcome to the FBA Law Student Division!

The FBA is very excited to partner with local chapters and law schools around the country to give law students, legal interns, and recent graduates access to networking and career-building opportunities. Through both in-person and virtual panel presentations hosted by FBA leaders, federal agencies, federal judges, and other nationally recognized speakers, students will learn directly from practitioners about career development, missions and operations, enrichment, employment opportunities, and more! They will also have opportunities through their local chapters to meet attorneys and judges in their area.

Being part of a national network of attorneys will provide students easy access to a wealth of information necessary to build their legal careers. We are especially excited about the following offerings planned for this year:

1. Pathways. Students are often overwhelmed by the process for finding your first job out of law school. With this series, you will have access to in-person or virtual panels about best practices and experiences getting judicial clerkships, in-house positions, jobs with the federal government, and jobs with law firms.

2. Practice Primers. Together with the Younger Lawyers Division, the Law Student Division will be presenting webinars about different federal practice areas. These webinars will talk to practitioners in those legal areas about what their typical day is like, what they wished they had known about their practice area when they first started practicing, and the advice they have for law students and younger lawyers who are interested in practicing in that field.

The Law Student Division is also working on career-planning resources that would put its student members in touch with FBA members who are working at different firms and agencies throughout the country in order to ask general questions about interviewing with and working for those firms. When you join the FBA, you join thousands of attorneys practicing federal law throughout the country.

Our student memberships include all of the above resources and programming for the duration of your law school experience and the first year of practice. If you are not already a member, we hope you consider joining today!

Thanks,

Jen
