About the Presenters
Moderator: Stephen Lee, Owner, Law Office of Stephen Chahn Lee
As an Assistant United States Attorney and in his former practices, Stephen excelled in high-profile cases and public service that impacted the legal landscape. He served as the senior counsel to the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office’s health care fraud unit, helping advise and train prosecutors and law-enforcement agents. He also advised Medicare’s Center for Program Integrity on ways to deter fraud, waste and abuse more efficiently. In his former practices, Stephen worked on large internal investigations, one of the largest Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, and a high-profile defamation suit. In 2022, Stephen established his own firm in Chicago, IL, where he is focused on helping his clients facing criminal charges involving healthcare fraud and the Anti-Kickback Statute.
Mary Beth Hogan, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP
Mary Beth Hogan is a partner with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and focuses her practice on sensitive investigations for educational institutions, corporations, and others involving independent investigations of sexual abuse or harassment. Ms. Hogan’s work includes advising boards of corporations, educational institutions as well as nonprofits on governance issues. Ms. Hogan graduated cum laude from Princeton University in 1985 and received her J.D. from Rutgers University where she graduated with high honors in 1990. Ms. Hogan has been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation,” by Crain’s inaugural list of “Leading Women Lawyers in New York City,” The New York Journal as a “Top Woman in Law” in 2016 and was named by Chambers & Partners in 2015 as “Lawyer of the Year for Private Practice” for gender diversity in the profession. She was named an Honorary Director of Catalyst this past year and serves as President of the Board of Nazareth Housing and on the Executive Committee of the Board of The Armory Foundation. She is also an avid runner and cyclist.
Connor Peth, Associate, Irwin Fritchie Urquhart Moore & Daniels, LLC
Connor’s practice is focused on various civil litigation matters in state and federal court. He represents clients in defense of claims in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical device, environmental & toxic tort, asbestos litigation, and personal injury. Connor works on all phases of litigation including discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and trials. While in law school, he was a member of the Willem C. Vis International Moot Arbitration Competition Team in both 2019 and 2020 and a member of the Loyola Law Review.
Madelyn Snyder, Law Clerk for Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab, M.D. Pennsylvania.
Madelyn Snyder currently serves as the term law clerk for Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Madelyn graduated cum laude from Penn State Dickinson Law in 2022. While a law student, Madelyn participated in internships and the children’s advocacy clinic, as well as serving as the 2023 Executive Symposium Editor of the Dickinson Law Review. Madelyn is currently in her third of a four-year term with Judge Schwab. She is also a member of the courthouse social committee and serves on the Board of Directors of Project SHARE, a food pantry in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Madelyn recently completed her two-year term as President of the Penn State Dickinson Law Alumni Society Board and remains on the Board.
