Webinar: Military Justice Update

A one hour review of the latest developments in military justice, to include recent changes to the Manual for Court Martial.  Major Luyties will discuss recent changes for panel/jury selection, new crimes, restructure of the UCMJ, the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act, and expanding the victim’s counsel role to domestic violence cases.


About the Presenter

Maj. Bobby Luyties is an instructor in the Military Justice Division at the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.

Maj. Luyties has served as a Trial Counsel, Defense Counsel, Senior Trial Counsel (twice) and acting Special Victim’s Prosecutor, Special Victim’s Counsel, and has a L.L.M. in Military Justice.  In that capacity, he has participated in well over 100 courts-martial.  As an Operational Law Attorney, he has deployed to Afghanistan, and has been directly involved with Train Advise Assist Missions and more than 250 kinetic strikes while working with Army and Air Force personnel in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Maj. Luyties entered active duty as an Army judge advocate in February 2010.  Prior to his current position, he was the Regimental Judge Advocate for the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Joint Base Myer – Henderson Hall.  Maj. Luyties is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Texas and the United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals.
