In this presentation, Mr. Metlitsky and Ms. Dubin will discuss recent decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court from the perspective of experienced appellate lawyers.

10:50 – 11:50 a.m. | Virtual Ethics: Practical Considerations for Online Practice*
The rules of professional conduct were established well before Skype and Zoom became part of our daily practice. But new tech collides with old ethics in surprising ways. This session will alert you to some of the potential pitfalls, and suggest ways to avoid them.

1:15 – 2:15 p.m. | Lead Yourself First: Inspiring Leadership Through Solitude*
During this presentation, Judge Kethledge will discuss topics in his book, “Lead Yourself First: Inspiring Leadership Through Solitude.” The book and this presentation demonstrate show how solitude can enhance clarity, spur creativity, sustain emotional balance, and generate the moral courage necessary to overcome adversity and criticism, all leading to better leadership.

2:30 – 3:30 p.m. | Tennessee Delivers Woman Suffrage
Ms. Casey and Mr. Haltom will discuss will discuss Tennessee’s pivotal role in the 19th Amendment’s ratification, which granted women the right to vote one hundred years ago. Because Tennessee was the last state of the then 48 states that could ratify the 19th Amendment, Tennessee became “The Perfect 36” since three-quarters of the states were
necessary for ratification. As the publisher and author of books on this subject, Casey and Haltom, respectively, will discuss how Memphis residents and legislators played a role in the fight for woman suffrage.

3:45 – 5:15 p.m. | Why Judges Do What They Do
A panel of judges from the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee will respond to questions pertaining to a variety of topics impacting the court, such as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on courtroom practice. This panel will be moderated by Judge Jon A. York, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee.


CLE

This program has been submitted for 6.0 hours of CLE credit in Tennessee, including 4.0 hours of General Credit and 2.0 hours of Dual Credit Sessions approved for dual credit are marked with an asterisk (*).
