Immigration Law Section: U & T Visas

Join the Immigration Law Section’s Newer Lawyers Division for their webinar series on Monday, September 23 at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (CDT) time zone. Panelists will be discussing U-nonimmigrant visas and T-nonimmigrant visas, including an overview of the requirements, recent updates and practice pointers.  This webinar series enables attendees to receive education and mentoring from seasoned immigration attorneys in specific areas of immigration law.

Presenters

Elizabeth Murrar – Murrar Law, LLC

Elizabeth Murrar has been in private practice since 2010, focusing on humanitarian- and family-based immigration and deportation defense. Her personal family history introduced her to immigration prior to law school but her journey began as a volunteer immigration legal assistant and intern at Catholic Charities of Wisconsin – Immigration Legal Services, where she developed a passion for advocating on behalf of immigrants.

Elizabeth is a national and local member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and has acted as a liaison to other local government agencies. She previously served as an Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at Marquette University Law School, mentoring aspiring legal professionals.

 

 

Caleb Stewart – Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN)

Caleb Stewart (he/him/his) is a Senior Staff Attorney with the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network’s (RMIAN) anti-human trafficking project where he represents survivors of human trafficking on their immigration cases, advises and mentors pro bono attorneys, trains legal and other professionals on working with survivors of human trafficking, and engages the public in advocating for the rights of survivors. Caleb joined RMIAN’s Anti-Human Trafficking Project in March 2018, after 4+ years of providing civil legal services to survivors of human trafficking with Colorado Legal Services. He is a long-standing member of the Colorado Human Trafficking Council (CHTC) fulfilling the role of a labor trafficking expert, and a Steering Committee member of the Freedom Network USA. Prior to studying law and public administration at the University of Washington, he lived in Thailand for five years as a Peace Corps Volunteer and as the Managing Director of the Khom Loy Development Foundation (KLDF).
