2023 Art and Fashion Law Conference

April 3, 2023 - April 4, 2023

The Art & Fashion Law Conference returns to in-person programming this year in New York City, bringing two global industries into one compelling law program. Experts in litigation, employment law, data privacy, and intellectual property will collaborate for panels at the advanced and primer level. The conference is designed for attorneys and non-attorneys who are interested in the intersection of art, fashion, and the law. This panel will address the international instruments available to curtail the illicit trade in Ukrainian cultural heritage and possible means of compensating Ukrainian losses due to the Russian full scale invasion by ways of freezing assets of sanctioned persons responsible for the ongoing conflict.

Navigation Data Privacy in the Fashion Industry: The Political and Regulatory Labyrinth of State Laws Aspiring to an American Version of the GDPR
The fashion industry is grappling with a number of data privacy lawsuits relating to “try on” tools that use biometric technology to recreate a fitting room experience.  This panel will examine the recently filed suits involving biometric information and how brands should protect themselves when privacy concerns are implicated.  Panelists will also cover best practices with respect to state laws, such as the CCPA, CPRA and BIPA.

CLE

CLE Credit will only be issued for New York.
Attendees can receive up to 10.0 General CLE credits (12.0 credits for 50-min states) in New York.
Attendees outside of NY may contact their respective jurisdictions to determine if they can claim credit independently.

That letter needs to state the reason for the attorney’s interest in the course or activity, as well as proof of income or an explanation of the financial hardship, and it must be signed by the requesting lawyer.
