Few judicial districts rival the District of Columbia in both history and breadth of federal practice. From the prosecution of the Watergate burglars to the Google antitrust trial, the federal courts in Washington, D.C. have hosted some of the most significant and high-profile cases in the Nation’s history. In criminal prosecutions, civil cases disputes, and appeals in patent cases and administrative law, the decisions of the federal courts here reach well beyond the borders of the District of Columbia.
The District of Columbia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association supports and promotes the welfare, interests, education, and professional development of the attorneys and judges who litigate and preside over those cases. Through the sponsorship of lectures by distinguished lawyers, lunch conversations with federal judges, and continuing legal education programming on government investigations and a host of other legal topics, the D.C. Chapter strives to provide members of the Federal Bar with opportunities to enrich their professional development and growth, to become acquainted with the custom and practice of the federal courts in D.C., and to expand their professional network within the federal bar in D.C.
