Oliver A. Ruiz

Oliver A. Ruiz is a Partner with Malloy & Malloy, P.L., Florida’s oldest intellectual property boutique firm (www.malloylaw.com). He oversees the firm’s litigation department, representing clients as lead or local counsel in federal courts in all types of intellectual property matters. He also handles trademark applications for clients, and represents clients in U.S. Patent & Trademark Office proceedings. Oliver is Board Certified by The Florida Bar for Intellectual Property Law, and has been rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell since 2010.

Oliver currently serves as Vice Chair of the FBA’s Sections & Divisions Council. He served as Circuit Vice President for the Eleventh Circuit from 2019-2025, including as the Chair of the Circuit Vice Presidents (2023-24), during which time he served on the FBA’s national Board of Directors in an ex officio capacity. Oliver is also a Life Fellow of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. He is a Past President of the Federal Bar Association’s South Florida Chapter, and a Past Chair of the FBA’s Intellectual Property Law Section. He has served for many years as a State Coordinator for Florida for the FBA’s Capitol Hill Day, and has served on numerous national committees of the FBA.

Oliver earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and a law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he was as a board member for the Moot Court Board, and President of the Student Bar Association. He is a Miami native, and is fluent in Spanish.
