Message from the Chair

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Criminal Law Section of the Federal Bar Association. I am delighted and honored to begin my tenure as the chair of the Criminal Law Section. I look forward over the next two years to using that role to serve and further the Section’s goal to improve the practice of law in the federal courts.

We are an exciting organization with diverse members that come from a myriad of backgrounds within the legal profession, including private attorneys, federal defenders, federal prosecutors and federal judges. That breadth of membership brings with it a richness of perspectives on the practice of criminal law informed by our respective roles, life experiences, and geography.

Our Section is currently in the throes of a major period of growth. While we continue to collaborate with local FBA chapters to co-sponsor continuing legal education programs, promote bench-bar relationships through other events, contribute articles to The Federal Lawyer magazine, sponsor a scholarship for law students interested in pursuing a career in criminal law, and provide other opportunities for professional development, we are building new committees and expanding our old ones. We are, of course, always looking for new members to get involved in ways which they are passionate about. To discuss further offerings and opportunities, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at attorneymadisonbader@gmail.com.

If you are not yet a member of the Federal Bar Association’s Criminal Law Section, I would encourage you to become a member to shape the future of our profession. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to working with each of you.

Madison F. Bader, CLS Chair
