In October 2016, Magistrate Judge Michael Newman kicked off the FBA Civics Initiative as a major focus of his national presidency. Judge Newman’s goal was to instill in students a respect for the rule of law and the responsibilities of citizenship by exposing them to the federal court system and the people whose jobs are vital to the administration of justice. With the help from our partners at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Judge Newman and his committee gathered resources and developed materials to enable judges and lawyers to teach children about the third branch of our government. To date, over 10,000 children have been educated as a result of this initiative. We encourage you to join us in this important mission.
