Message From the Chair

We are the FBA LGBTQ+ Law Section, for lesbian, gay, bi, and trans related law and litigation. With my fellow Board members, we provide educational and networking opportunities for everyone, focusing on legal issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community as well as creating CLE opportunities and hosting networking events.

We seek to create an open, inclusive, and engaging space for all federal practitioners engaged in litigation relating to LGBT rights, community members, and all others working on gay and trans rights regardless of their position. The Section strives to provide timely discussions on areas of law where LGBT legal rights are at issue. We aim to provide high quality content to our members on these issues and to partner with other parts of the FBA and external organizations to help us make this happen. We have hosted fabulous webinars and will continue to provide quality programming to our members. We have several events in the works for the coming year, including both informal gatherings and informational webinars. Stay tuned!

Our Section newsletter, OUTside Influence, is issued several times per year. If you are looking to contribute, please send us your content, or contact us for more information!

Our Section seeks to provide high-quality benefits to our members. The LGBTQ+ community is diverse and politically salient; with increasing litigation and legislation, with so many LGBT related cases working their way through the courts, the Section is more relevant and fit for purpose than ever.

If you would like to get more involved with the Section, please reach out to any of us on the Board. We welcome your participation on panels, submissions for our newsletter, or just thoughts you have for how to make our Section better.

I look forward to a productive and interesting year!

Richard John Cole, III
