Webinar: Technology Every Attorney Should be Using, But Probably Isn’t – How to Practice Smarter and Save Time!

As the title suggests, this program will explore various technologies that will assist you in being more efficient in your practice.   The panelists will discuss everything from how to use the integrated firm-wide technology you probably have already, such as Microsoft Teams, more effectively; trial preparation software that integrates deposition and trial materials with e-discovery databases; and a litigation management software platform – Factbox.  The panelists include government and private sector attorneys.  Time will be allotted for others on the webinar to share additional technologies which they have found useful in their practice.

About the Presenters

Thomas Campbell, Parter, Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP
Tom is a partner in Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP and represents clients in patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property litigation, and post-grant patent challenges before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).  Tom has a broad base of experience in various technological and business areas, particularly in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical and medical device inventions. He drafts invalidity opinions, investigates freedom to operate, counsels on strategic portfolio management, and conducts due diligence investigations prior to acquisition or merger.

 

Jonathan Slack, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Hawaii
Jonathan Slack is an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Hawaii.  As a criminal AUSA in a smaller USAO, Jonathan is a generalist prosecutor who handles criminal offenses ranging from guns & drugs to cybercrime.  Prior to joining the USAO, Jonathan clerked for three federal judges and was an associate attorney at Sidley Austin LLP, where he focused on patent litigation.  He earned his JD from The University of Texas and holds degrees in computer science from Georgia Tech and mechanical engineering from Auburn.

Nathan Stump, Partner, Schlichter Bogard LLP
Nathan Stump is a partner at Schlichter Bogard LLP, a mid-sized plaintiffs’ firm in St. Louis. His practice focuses on complex class action lawsuits filed in federal courts across the country. Before joining the firm in 2021, Nathan served for over 14 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, first in the Middle District of Alabama and later in the Southern District of Illinois. During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Nathan led hundreds of civil and criminal prosecutions against individuals and corporations, primarily in cases involving children, the elderly, and other vulnerable victims. He began his legal career as a commercial litigator at large law firms in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Nathan is also a founding member and the current president of the Southern District of Illinois chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Over the years, he has lectured audiences on a wide range of topics, including trial advocacy, digital evidence, and the ethical use of social media. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan and is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.

Dan Terhune, Sr. IP Counsel, Fresenius-Kabi USA
Dan Terhune is an experienced litigator and patent prosecutor.  His practice is focused on applying legal strategy to compliment his clients’ business strategy, including protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights and defending his clients’ interests in litigation.  Dan’s litigation experience includes patent, trade secrets, and complex commercial matters.  Dan’s patent experience spans numerous technical fields including software, chemistry, automotives, electronics, and medical devices, both in the United States and abroad.  Dan’s litigation experience includes state and District court litigation and matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.  Before practicing law, Dan worked as an engineer for 18 years in research and development and manufacturing. His engineering and business experience, which includes design and manufacturing of electrical equipment, medical equipment and consumer electronics, allows him to quickly grasp clients’ business needs and develop legal strategies to fit their businesses.
