Message From the Chair
FBA Labor and Employment Section – Welcome Message 2025-2026
The Labor and Employment Law Section is composed of lawyers and law students spanning this diverse, multifaceted and ever-evolving field – plaintiff’s and defense counsel, public sector lawyers, human resources professionals and in-house counsel. Labor and employment law is preeminently relevant, touching the lives of everyone who has ever held a job. We welcome new and different perspectives and experiences, so please join us!
The L&E Section supports its members by generating online and in-person educational programming and continuing legal education panels, planning networking opportunities, and publishing articles in the Federal Lawyer and our section newsletter, The Labouring Oar.
Our executive committee enthusiastically encourages member involvement, through participation in board opportunities, sub-committees, attending meetings and events. Please contact us if you are interested in learning about board opportunities, formal or informal, publishing an article, presenting a panel, or planning an in-person event. We welcome feedback as to how the section can better serve the needs of our members, and actively seek collaboration with sections and chapters across the FBA and the nation.
Our first board meeting of 2026, on January 9th at 12:00PM Eastern will be open to all section members via videoconference. Please let us know if you would like to join and we will send you a link. Our upcoming programming includes From the Judges’ Chambers: Fireside Chats on Best Practices in presenting Labor & Employment Cases, a three-part CLE in collaboration with the Judiciary Division and ADR Section, which will kick off on January 22nd with Presenting your Best Case in L&E Arbitration and Mediation – The View from the Bench. We are hosting an in-person half day CLE in Washington, DC with the District of Columbia Chapter on February 5, 2026 and hope to plan additional in-person programming in cities with a robust L&E bar. If you are interested in bringing an in-person CLE to your city, please reach out! We also present an annual Day in the Life of an Employment Lawyer panel in the fall for law students and new lawyers.
We are also committed to resuming the section’s biennial in-person national conference in February 2027, to provide our members with a unique and exceptional opportunity to learn, network, and have fun with like-minded colleagues. Stay tuned for details, and we hope to see you there!
