Welcome to the FBA’s Intellectual Property Law Section.

Maya Angelou once noted that “you can’t use up creativity.  The more you use, the more you have.”  As service providers to the creative industry, we are surrounded by it.  Creativity is an endless reserve that only grows with use.  In the same vein, membership in the FBA is only a benefit to you if you use it.  There are numerous opportunities for involvement in the Section, so I encourage you to tap into your creativity and reach out to me, or any of our Executive Board members, to share your ideas to make this year a success.

I am honored to serve as the Chair of the Section, and to follow leaders who have served our Section well, with the most recent being Oliver Ruiz.  Our Section’s Executive Board will work hard to make this a successful year:

Chair – Olivera Medenica

Vice Chair – Marc Rapaport

Treasurer – Paul Supnik

Secretary – Padmaja Chinta

Immediate Past Chair – Oliver Ruiz

We already have a busy term ahead of us.  We are planning a Fashion & Art Law Conference in New York for February, and a Paris Fashion Law Conference in Paris for April.  We are also planning a conference at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in March, and a number of career oriented law school events throughout the country.   As in prior years, we are also working on a Supreme Court admission ceremony at some point in the spring.

We welcome your ideas, and encourage you to attend our monthly meetings – they are not just for Executive Board members, but also for all of our IP Section members.  There are numerous opportunities for involvement in the Section, from event planning to publishing opportunities in our newsletter, the IP Examiner, as well as The Federal Lawyer.  I encourage all members to contact me, or any of our Executive Board members, for more information on how to get involved to make this year a success.

Kindest regards,

Olivera Medenica
