Welcome to the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, based in Tampa, Florida.
We are committed to strengthening the federal legal system and advancing the administration of justice. Our mission is to serve the interests and needs of federal practitioners, both public and private, alongside the federal judiciary, fostering a dynamic community dedicated to the science of jurisprudence.
Each year, our Chapter hosts several topical and informative events such as the Annual Civil Seminar, The Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich 34th Annual National Seminar on Federal Sentencing, and the Annual Staying in the Game Program. Our Chapter also features CLE programs on a wide variety of topics, including intellectual property, cybersecurity, and criminal law. Past speakers have included United States District Court, Magistrate and Bankruptcy Judges and Judges of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In December, the Chapter hosts its Annual Luncheon which features the Chief District and Bankruptcy Judges, U.S. Attorney, and Federal Defender speaking on the state of the Middle District of Florida.
We also work in conjunction with the Middle District of Florida to give back to our local community. Each year, we host an annual Summer Law Camp for high schoolers in our community. This camp provides students with the opportunity to learn about the law, interact with judges and lawyers in the community, and participate in a mock trial. We also sponsor the Annual Essay Contest with the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division judges and the Middle District Bench Bar Fund for local high school students to submit an essay on a legal issue. The Essay Contest provides cash prizes to the students and grants to the teachers and schools.
