Judge Mills previously served on the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Mississippi House of Representatives. Judge Starrett shared with the attendees what it is like to have senior status as well as his work on the reentry initiative he has championed. Judge Duncan spoke about his career prior to his judicial appointment and his confirmation process. Members were pleased to hear from Judge Jordan who recently assumed the position of Chief Judge. Chief Judge Jordan answered a number of questions that had been submitted prior to the meeting and that were asked during his comments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregg Kennedy and Special Agent in Charge Christopher Freeze of the Jackson FBI provided an interesting and informative outline of how these two agencies coordinate from the reporting of a crime to sentencing in Federal Court. The panelists took questions from the MC Law students and described the career options in each agency. Judge Ozerden shared practice pointers with the capacity gathering of attorneys and judges. Judge Jolly has announced he will take senior status in October. The Federal Judges turned out in force to join a nice cohort of practitioners. Governor Barbour\u2019s remarks focused on the recovery following Hurricane Katrina and the role played by the various institutions to include attorneys and the legal community.
