SUMMARY:Webinar: An Update on the Law of War
DESCRIPTION:On March 24\, 2021\, the Veterans and Military Law Section will host a one-hour CLE on the Law of War.  The Army Judge Advocate General’s School will conduct the CLE and will focus on recent changes to the law of war with an emphasis on lessons learned from our military’s involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan\, as well as the challenges faced by today’s military lawyers. The attendees will have a renewed understanding of the international law that covers armed conflict and how it affects our national security. \nPresented by the Veterans and Military Law Section and Army Judge Advocates General’s (JAG) School \nRegistration for this event has closed. \n\nAbout the Presenter\nLt. Col. Justin M. Marchesi\, United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps\nLieutenant Colonel Justin Marchesi serves as the Professor and Chair of the National Security Law Department at the Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville\, Virginia. Supervising a department of nine\, he oversees the development and delivery of diverse curricula covering domestic and international law topics such as jus ad bellum\, jus in bello\, war crimes\, law of air\, space and sea\, constitutional law\, intelligence law\, cyber law\, detention law\, human rights law\, and international legal interoperability in a wide variety of courses\, including an ABA-accredited LL.M. program. Lieutenant Colonel Marchesi began his career as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Southern California in 2003 where he earned a B.A. in International Relations and a commission in the United States Army. He was selected later to participate in the Army Funded Legal Education Program and successfully completed his studies at William & Mary Law School after serving as Editor-in-Chief of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal. More recently\, he received an LL.M. in Military Law from the Judge Advocate General’s School in 2013.
