And due to the numerous and unpredictable circumstances of trial\, complying with federal preservation rules can often add unwelcome stress and complications to effective trial advocacy. He has briefed and orally argued multiple appeals before the Court of Appeals of Virginia\, the Supreme Court of Virginia\, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
