Check the program page for updates as programming is added. \n\nAbout the Presenters\nSarah Wahl\, Recruiting Officer\, Attorney-Advisor\, Office of the Inspector General\, U.S. Office of Personnel Management (Co-Moderator) \nFritz Swartzbaugh\, Deputy Counsel\, Office of the Inspector\, General U.S. AbilityOne Commission (Co-Moderator) \nPaul St. Hillaire\, Assistant Inspector General for Legal and Legislative Affairs\, U.S. Office of Personnel Management \nPaul St. Hillaire was appointed Assistant Inspector General for Legal and Legislative Affairs (AIGL) in October 2019.  He is responsible for overseeing the Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs (OLLA)\, which provides legal advice and guidance to the Inspector General and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) components and interacts with Congress on behalf of the OIG.  He also serves as the Debarring Official\, who is responsible for debarment and suspension actions of health care providers participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program.  Prior to his appointment to the AIGL\, Mr. St. Hillaire served as senior counsel and Acting AIGL in OLLA\, and Acting Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Management in the OIG.  He previously served as Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Office of the General Counsel and in several other roles in the OPM organization formerly known as Retirement and Insurance Services.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore. \nSusan Ruge-Hudson\, Counselor to the Inspector General\, U.S. Government Publishing Office \nSusan L. Ruge-Hudson serves as the Counselor to the Inspector General.  In this role\, she provides legal and policy advice to the Inspector General on a wide variety of topics\, including issues related to protecting the office’s independence.  Her primary duty is to support and assist the Inspector General as he executes his oversight responsibilities under the GPO Inspector General Act of 1988 and the Inspector General Act of 1978.  She also works closely with the Assistant Inspector’s General on matters related to audits\, inspections\, investigations\, and other oversight activities. \nRuge-Hudson has been in the Inspector General Community since 2010\, when she joined the U.S. Office of Personnel Management Office of the Inspector General.  While at OPM OIG\, she was the Senior Counsel for Legislative and External Affairs and oversaw all Congressional and media outreach efforts.  She left OPM OIG in 2019 to join the Defense Digital Service\, a small office reporting directly to the Secretary of Defense\, charged with bringing IT practices from the private sector to the Department of Defense. \nPrior to joining the Federal Government\, Ruge-Hudson worked at private law firms\, specializing in tax law.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Politics from Washington & Lee University\, a J.D. from Columbia Law School\, and an LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. \nTanner Horton-Jones\, Senior Counsel with U.S. Agency for International Development OIG’s Office of General Counsel \nAs senior counsel with USAID OIG’s Office of General Counsel\, Tanner leads a team of three attorneys with a primary focus on meeting the legal needs of the Office of Audit and Office of Management.  The team supplies research and advice to each audit from its inception through the closure of its recommendations\, along with support for OIG’s contracting unit\, learning and development program\, IT team\, internal policy management\, and other core administrative functions.  Additionally\, Tanner is the legal liaison for USAID OIG’s unique work providing oversight of U.S. overseas contingency operations in partnership with the Inspectors General for the Departments of State and Defense.  He also serves as the OIG’s Whistleblower Protection Coordinator\, ensuring that the OIG fulfills its obligation to educate employees about whistleblower rights and properly respond to retaliation complaints.  He is actively involved in the OIG community\, including teaching courses through the CIGIE Training Institute. \nTanner holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and is licensed to practice law by the State of Maryland.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Sewanee\, where he studied French and Political Science. \nKevin Miller\, Counsel to the Inspector General\, Farm Credit Administration \nKevin T. Miller serves as Counsel to the Inspector General at the Farm Credit Administration\, an independent agency tasked with regulating and supervising the Farm Credit System\, a nationwide network of borrower-owned financial institutions that provide credit and related services to agriculture and rural America. He provides legal and other advice to the Inspector General and Office of Inspector General staff concerning audits\, inspections\, evaluations\, investigations\, and other matters relevant to the office’s oversight responsibilities. \nBefore joining the FCA OIG in 2018\, Miller worked as an attorney-advisor in the U.S. Office of Personnel Management OIG. In FY2020\, then-YLD Chair Adine S. Momoh led a Call to Action following George Floyd’s tragic death and the civil unrest across Minnesota\, the country and world. The YLD issued a statement and provided resources to help younger attorneys respond. The YLD then initiated a national pro bono challenge\, the StepUp Pro Bono Challenge\, and encouraged younger attorneys to step up and perform pro bono specifically addressing issues of systemic racism\, socio-economic injustice\, and access to justice. The YLD Board has since adopted it as an annual program.  In the training\, Dr. Tyner will explore her book and discuss tangible ways lawyers can use their legal skills to advocate for change in marginalized communities. SUMMARY:2022 [Virtual] Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe Younger Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association is pleased to announce the\nAnnual Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition will be held virtually March 14-18\, 2022  \n\nWhile the decision to make the national competition wholly virtual was a difficult one\, the YLD has determined it was ultimately the safest option for the health and wellbeing of the students\, coaches\, staff\, competition volunteers\, and the communities around them. The online format is also consistent with the learning plans of many law schools across the country. \nAlthough the competition looks different in a virtual setting\, key aspects will remain intact and continue to make it one of the premier moot court competitions in the country. Teams will be given a problem they will use to prepare and submit written briefs and argue orally against other teams in front of a panel of judges. The competition’s judges will continue to be actual state or federal court judges\, practitioners\, or scholars—many of whom had to pivot to virtual hearings\, conferences\, and general practices in their careers. This reinforces the “real world” experience for competitors. As is tradition\, the competition will conclude with an awards ceremony\, where family\, FBA members\, and leaders are invited to attend. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation\, including securities litigation and contract disputes. Ms. Davis also has an active pro bono practice.  Her recent pro bono representations include: a First Amendment case on behalf of University of Florida professors who were barred from participating as expert witnesses or amici curiae in litigation against the State of Florida; advising a legal services organization on potential legal challenges to the detention of protestors; and civil rights litigation on behalf of a transgender woman who was denied insurance coverage for medically necessary facial feminization surgery\, which resulted in a landmark settlement.  Ms. Davis has also represented the Government of Canada and the Partnership for New York City as amici curiae in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the New York Court of Appeals\, respectively. Zloch\, United States District Judge of the Southern District of Florida. She also practiced employment litigation at Morgan\, Lewis & Bockius. Erin is active with her local Federal Bar Association chapter\, having served on the board for four years. \nAlbert Jacobs\, Chair\, Senior Lawyers Division \nWith more than 40 years of experience in every phase of Patent Law\, Mr. Jacobs has spent the last 30 years litigating Biotech\, Pharmaceutical\, and Medical Device Patents\, for multinational companies both before the Federal District Courts\, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) and the International Trade Commission (ITC). He was the first of a group of attorneys to participate in the ITC’s first 100 Day Proceeding dealing with the issue of whether or not there was a Domestic Industry in the subject matter of the Patent. He was successful in proving there was not. He successfully sued a number of large well known foreign companies in one of the largest ITC cases ever filed when he brought an action against 44 companies. He has appeared before the CAFC from its outset and is the only attorney ever to invalidate a Patent for his client on an appeal from an improvidently granted Preliminary Injunction. \nMr. Jacobs has participated in numerous Mediations both in the Federal Courts and in the ITC. He was appointed by the Secretary of Commence to a 3-year term on the Patent Public Advisory Committee. He is a Certified Mediator under New York State Statutes and has participated in a wide range of Domestic Family Matters. He has served as a coach for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York in their Mediation Program.\nA graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School where he was a Stone Scholar\, he is a member of numerous Bars as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. \nHe is currently Chair Elect of the Maricopa County Bar Association Litigation Section and is the Chair of the Senior Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association (FBA)\, and Chair of the Senior Lawyers Committee of the Phoenix Chapter of the FBA as well as member of that Chapter’s Executive Committee. \nKaren King\, Chair\, Federal Career Service Division \nKaren King joined the FBA in 2015 and served as the Lafayette/Acadiana Chapter President in 2019. She has also served the FBA on the Chapter Activity Fund Committee and is a member the Constitution\, Bylaws\, Rules\, and Resolutions Committee. She is the Chair of the Federal Career Service Division. \nKaren has been a Civil Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Louisiana for 19 years. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office\, Karen spent time in private practice where she handled workers’ compensation\, insurance defense\, and municipal and police liability cases. She currently handles a wide variety of civil cases spanning the areas of civil rights\, employment discrimination\, general tort\, medical malpractice\, eminent domain\, affirmative civil enforcement\, defensive commercial litigation\, Bivens\, and immigration. She also serves the U.S. Attorney’s Office as the Civil eLitigation Coordinator\, Civil Civil Rights Coordinator\, and District Election Officer (Lafayette Office). \nKaren is a Fellow of both the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Foundation\, where she serves on the Governance Committee. As an FBA Foundation Fellow she participated in the selection of the 2021 recipient of the Dr. J. Most recently\, Karen has implemented the American Bar Association’s Grit Project within the Lafayette Bar Association to use grit and growth mindset to advance women in the law. \nMarj Leaming\, Board Member\, Senior Lawyers Division \nMarj Leaming provides consulting\, training\, and assistance on individual\, or group projects related to privacy\, system risk management\, and business law compliance.  Previously\, she provided these services in Federal and State government\, non-profit\, and private sectors. Prior to becoming a consultant\, she served as the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture\, where she approved deliverables from 20 agencies comprising the Privacy Council; issued case decisions; and conducted individual and group technical assistance and specialized training through meetings\, consultations\, and teleconferences.  Previously\, she served as Director- IT Systems Privacy and Security Division/Privacy Officer for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General during which she conducted inspections and evaluations related to privacy\, system security\, risk management\, and business law compliance. She is experienced in working closely with General Counsel\, CIO\, CISO\, Chief Physical Security\, Data Officer\, Communications\, and customer communities for program planning and evaluation\, as well as to consult in how best to respond\, report\, investigate\, and remediate data breaches. \nSteven Miller\, Immediate Past Chair\, Senior Lawyers Division\, and Officer for the Federal Career Service Division \nSteven Miller is a Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Environment in the Office of the Assistant General Counsel for the Environment\, in the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)\, in Washington\, D.C. In that position\, Steve is responsible for providing advice and counsel to various DOE offices on environmental conflict resolution\, uranium mill tailings\, remedial action\, CERCLA\, including natural resource damage issues\, long-term stewardship and other environmental matters. He assisted in the drafting of provisions of the 1986 CERCLA amendments and the subsequent executive order delegating the President’s authorities to the various federal agencies and received an award for that effort.  He also has served as a mentor to DOE employees\, law students\, college and high school students as part of various DOE-sponsored mentoring and internship programs. Steve has served with the Department of Energy and its predecessor agency\, the Energy Research and Development Administration\, since 1977.  In addition to his DOE responsibilities\, Steve is also the Immediate Past Chair of the Senior Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association\, where he has had numerous leadership roles.  Steve holds a J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law\, a M.U.P. After receiving his J.D. cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2016\, Dan was hired as a prosecutor by visionary District Attorney Kenneth P. Thompson. \nHis practice at Kostelanetz & Fink\, LLP focuses on white-collar criminal defense and civil and criminal tax controversies. While Dan does not consider himself a tax lawyer\, he is a perfect example of how non-tax lawyers must still have expertise in\, as well as an understanding of\, tax law\, practice\, and procedure. \nNick Zemil \nNick Zemil is a Director in PwC’s Washington National Tax Services group\, specializing in international tax. Nick advises clients and local PwC teams on a variety of international tax planning and controversy issues arising from pre- and post-tax reform provisions\, with a focus on outbound transactions. Prior to joining PwC\, Nick was an associate with a large\, international law firm. Nick is also an experienced adjunct professor\, with a teaching focus in tax and accounting. In addition to teaching\, Nick is a frequent speaker on international tax at various internal and external forums and has authored several publications on domestic and international tax issues. \nTeisha Ruggiero \nTeisha Ruggiero is an attorney with the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (International)\, Branch 3\, where she focuses on developing and drafting foreign tax credit guidance. Before joining the Chief Counsel’s office in July 2021\, she worked at KPMG for seven years. Sontchi \nChristopher S. Sontchi is an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court and is the former Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware (from which he recently retired). He is a frequent speaker in the United States and abroad on issues relating to corporate reorganizations. He is a Lecturer in Law at The University of Chicago Law School and has taught restructuring to international judges through the auspices of the World Bank and INSOL International. He has also published articles on creditors’ committees\, valuation\, asset sales and safe harbors. \nJudge Sontchi attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and obtained a B.A. with distinction in Political Science. He received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School\, after which he returned to his native Delaware to serve as a law clerk in the Delaware Supreme Court. \nAmy Boyle \nAmy Boyle currently serves as the Chair Elect of the National Board of Directors for the Federal Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and the Programming Co-Chair for the Federal Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. Amy is a Founding Partner at MJSB Employment Justice in Minneapolis\, Minnesota. He also provides research on the laws of Russia and other former Soviet republics.  Before joining the Law Library in 1996\, Dr. Roudik worked as a research scholar at the University of Chicago Law School\, served as a legal advisor to the Russian Parliament\, and taught law at the Moscow Institute of Technology.  He holds an MA from the U.S. Naval War College\, a JSD from the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Science\, and a JD from the State University of Moscow.  Dr. Roudik is a member of the DC Bar. He has been a guest lecturer at Howard and Tufts Universities.  He has been featured at various professional conferences and his articles on legal developments in the countries of his jurisdiction have been published in legal periodicals in the U.S. and abroad. \nBarbara Bavis is the Bibliographic and Research Instruction Librarian for the Law Library of Congress. In this position\, she organizes the Law Library’s legal and legislative research class offerings\, provides presentations to a wide range of patrons¾congressional staff members\, federal government employees\, and members of the public. She also provides legal research services to patrons\, both at the reference desk in the Law Library Reading Room and via the Law Library’s Ask a Librarian service. Before joining the Law Library of Congress in 2012\, Ms. Bavis was a practicing attorney at LeClairRyan\, a former National Law Journal Top 250 firm\, where she represented clients in a range of immigration\, labor and employment\, and civil cases. Ms. Bavis then went on to provide reference services for the Department of Justice Libraries system before serving as the Faculty Services Librarian at Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law. There\, she was responsible for assisting faculty members with the publication process\, administrating the Student Research Assistant Program\, and teaching in the Lawyering Skills Program\, where she provided classes on legal research and writing. Ms. Bavis holds a BA in history from Duke University\, a JD from the University of North Carolina School of Law\, and an MSLS with a specialization in law librarianship from Catholic University. This year’s competition is planned to be held in-person on March 22-23\, 2023.  \n\nThe 2023 Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition is scheduled to be held in-person on March 22-23\, 2023\, in the Washington D.C. area. Several aspects of the competition make it one of the premier moot court competitions in the country. The panel will provide perspectives on what it means to be a LGBTQ+ legal practitioner and will also discuss their involvement with and in the LGBTQ+ community. Panelists will provide perspectives from an array of practices areas\, including public interest\, civil litigation\, tax law\, and more. \n  \nPresented by the LGBTQ+ Law Section \n\nAbout the Presenters\nAnthony May\, Associate\, Brown\, Goldstein & Levy LLP (Moderator)\nAnthony May is an associate at Brown\, Goldstein & Levy\, LLP. He has represented clients in a variety of complex litigation matters including assisting employees with disabilities in obtaining accessible technology and accommodations in the workplace\, representing individuals who have been wrongfully convicted\, commercial litigation disputes\, and fighting workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation. Prior to joining the firm\, Anthony was the Francis D. Murnaghan\, Jr. Appellate Advocacy Fellow at The Public Justice Center\, where he represented indigent clients\, authored amicus briefs\, and argued in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Maryland appellate courts on various anti-poverty and civil rights cases. He clerked on the Appellate Court of Maryland (formerly known as the Maryland Court of Special Appeals) for the Honorable Deborah Sweet Eyler (Ret.). While attending law school\, Anthony worked as a law clerk at Brown Goldstein & Levy\, was the Executive Symposium Editor of the Journal of Race\, Religion\, Gender & Class\, a semi-finalist in the ABA Labor & Employment Law Trial Competition\, and a Legal Writing Fellow. Anthony is a graduate of the University of Akron and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. \nMario Choi\, Partner\, Donahue Fitzgerald LLP \nMario Choi is a Partner at Donahue Fitzgerald LLP\, where he advises and represents clients in complex commercial litigation and other matters. Prior to Donahue Fitzgerald\, Mario was an attorney at a plaintiff class action firm. He began his legal career in New York\, first serving as a law clerk in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court\, New York County\, and then as an associate at a mid-size law firm. Mario is active in the community\, serving as a Judge Pro Tem for the San Francisco Superior Court\, a lecturer at Berkeley Law\, and as a director on the boards of several non-profit and legal organizations. \n  \nKevin Griffiths\, Managing Partner\, Scanlan Griffiths + Aldridge \nKevin is one of the founders of Scanlan Griffiths + Aldridge\, a boutique civil-litigation firm Boise\, Idaho. He currently serves as the managing partner. He is a civil litigator with a practice focused on medical malpractice and professional liability defense\, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation\, products liability\, and complex commercial litigation. Jim Jones of the Idaho Supreme Court. Kevin has also served as a visiting lecturer on a variety of topics for the University of Idaho College of Law\, including insurance law and civil discovery practice. Kevin earned his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law and has a B.A. in History from the College of Idaho. \nJacob Puhl\, Tax Policy Manager\, AMET & The Americas\, Meta \nJacob is a Manager of Tax Policy at Meta\, formerly Facebook. He leads Tax Policy for the Middle East\, Africa\, and the US States. Based in Washington\, DC\, he serves as a liaison between policymakers\, business lines\, and tax functions to remove friction and anticipate challenges. His portfolio spans the globe\, with a focus on promoting workable and consistent tax policy. \nBefore Meta\, Jacob was a Manager at Deloitte’s Washington National Tax practice focusing primarily on US Federal tax policy. He contributed to legislative updates for clients as well as advised foreign entities and embassies on US policy matters. Prior to Deloitte\, Jacob served as a legal intern at the US Treasury Department\, in the Office of the International Tax Counsel. SUMMARY:Webinar:  A Conversation on Ethics and the United States Supreme Court
DESCRIPTION:Over the years\, there has been much debate about the creation of legislation that would set ethics rules for the U.S. Supreme Court\, as well as what such rules would cover and how they could be enforced. Three experts in this arena–Virginia Canter\, Chief Ethics Counsel for CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington)\, Hon. Andre M. Davis\, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (Ret.)\, and Charles G. Geyh\, Indiana University Distinguished Professor\, and the John F. Kimberling Chair in Law at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law–will talk about the Constitutional and ethical matters surrounding this important topic. The distinguished panel will discuss: whether such legislation is necessary and\, if so\, what conduct should be addressed; what the implications of such legislation could be if it is implemented; and how enforcement of rules could be carried out. This webinar will be moderated by Samantha Pallini\, Esq.\, the Civil Rights Practice Area Lead at Lex Machina (a LexisNexis company)\, a member of the Federal Bar Association’s Professional Development Committee and recently elected the Representative for the 8th Circuit of the FBA’s Young Lawyers Division. \nPresented by the Professional Development Committee and the Younger Lawyers Division. \n\nAbout the Presenters\n \nVirginia Canter\nChief Ethics Counsel at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics \nVirginia Canter is Chief Ethics Counsel at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). She joined CREW in that position following a career in public service. Her prior experience includes serving as Ethics Advisor to the International Monetary Fund\, White House Associate Counsel to Presidents Obama and Clinton\, Senior Ethics Counsel for the Department of the Treasury\, and Assistant Ethics Counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Virginia received her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Baltimore and is a member of the Maryland Bar. \n  \n \nHon. Andre M. Davis\nJudge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit\, Retired \nDuring a thirty-year judicial career starting in 1987\, Davis served as an Associate Judge on the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City; as an Associate Judge on the Circuit Court for Baltimore City; as federal district judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland; and as a federal appellate judge on the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In September 2017\, Davis retired fully from service as a judge to become City Solicitor\, as Head of the Law Department\, of Baltimore. There\, he managed a department of approximately 110\, including 70 lawyers who represent the City in all civil legal matters.  In his role as counsel to the Baltimore City Police Department\, he was at the forefront of the City’s implementation of the federal court consent decree requiring broad policing reforms. He retired as City Solicitor in February 2020. \n  \n \nProfessor Charles G. Geyh\nIndiana University Distinguished Professor \nCharles G. Geyh is Indiana University Distinguished Professor\, and the John F. Kimberling Chair in Law at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. His work on judicial conduct\, ethics\, independence\, administration\, practice\, and procedure has appeared in over one hundred books\, articles\, book chapters\, reports\, and other publications. \nGeyh has served as an expert witness in the Senate impeachment trial of Federal District Judge G. Thomas Porteous; Director of and consultant to the ABA Judicial Disqualification Project\, and as Reporter to four ABA Commissions (the Joint Commission to Evaluate the Model Code of Judicial Conduct\, the Commission on the 21st Century Judiciary\, the Commission on the Public Financing of Judicial Campaigns\, and the Commission on the Separation of Powers and Judicial Independence). He has likewise served as Director of the American Judicature Society’s Center for Judicial Independence; Consultant to the Parliamentary Development Project on Judicial Independence and Administration for the Supreme Rada of Ukraine; Assistant special counsel to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on the impeachment and removal of Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Rolf Larsen; Consultant to the National Commission on Judicial Discipline & Removal; and legislative liaison to the Federal Courts Study Committee. \nHe received his B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin in 1980 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin law school in 1983\, after which he clerked for the Honorable Thomas A. Clark on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit\, worked as an associate at the Washington D.C. law firm of Covington & Burling\, and served as counsel to the United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary\, before beginning his teaching career in 1991. He joined the faculty at Indiana University in 1999\, has served as the law school’s associate dean for research\, and is the recipient of a Carnegie Fellowship\, three faculty fellowships\, four Trustees teaching awards\, the Wallace teaching award\, and an Indiana University Bicentennial Medal. \nAbout the Moderator\n \nSamantha Pallini\nCivil Rights Practice Area Lead at Lex Machina \nSamantha Pallini\, Esq. is a civil rights attorney based in St. Paul\, Minnesota and is thrilled to moderate this distinguished panel. \nShe began her legal career litigating 42 U.S.C. 1983 cases for the City of New York’s Special Federal Litigation Unit. From there\, Samantha joined private practice in Chicago\, litigating civil rights cases throughout the district courts of the Seventh and Ninth Circuits\, as well as one case seeking cert in the U.S. Supreme Court.
