SUMMARY:Minnesota Chapter: November Monthly Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:November 10\, 2021 | 12:00-1:00 p.m. CT  \n\n\n\n\nOur virtual meetings are designed to emulate our Chapter’s signature monthly luncheon events. Using Zoom\, participants will enter small-group breakout rooms\, where they can socialize and catch up with friends and colleagues. Participants will then convene in the virtual “main room” to hear from FBA leaders\, judges\, and our distinguished speakers. \nOur November 10\, 2021 meeting will feature remarks from Anh Le Kremer\, the first National President of the FBA from the Minnesota Chapter. \n\nAbout the Presenter\nAnh Le Kremer is the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at Nystrom & Associates\, Ltd. Anh has been an active member of the FBA since the start of her legal career in 2001. Her involvement with the FBA began with the Minnesota Chapter\, where she was a member of the Executive Committee and served in a number of leadership roles before serving as the Circuit Vice President for the Eighth Circuit. \nAnh served as the Eighth Circuit CVP for two terms and received the Outstanding Service Award in 2011 for her work. She served on the FBA Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016 and was appointed by then-President Judge Newman in January 2017 to fill a vacancy on the Board from January through September 2017. Anh served on the Sections and Divisions Council. She is also a past chair of the Professional Ethics Committee\, where she assisted with the development of a Standards of Professional Ethics and Conduct Policy\, which was adopted by the Board and sets the standards of conduct expected of our leadership. Anh is a past chair of the Audit Committee\n(2015)\, past chair of the Shaw Younger Lawyers Public Service Award and Grant Committee (2017)\, and past chair of the Constitution\, Bylaws\, Rules and Resolutions Committee (2018)\, and she has served on other FBA committees\, including the Nominations and Elections Committee\, the Sarah T. Hughes Awards Committee\, the Women and the Law Conference Planning Committee\, and the Rising Professionals Symposium Planning Committee. Anh also served as the General Counsel for the FBA for FY2019. Anh was elected as the Treasurer in FY2020 and has progressed through the leadership ladder and was installed as President for FY2022. We have assembled a slate of outstanding presenters\, including judges and experts in a variety of fields\, who will speak on vital issues facing civil and criminal practice today\, including: \n\nQualified Immunity\nFederal Clemency in the Biden Era\nRule 30(b)(6) Depositions\nVoting Rights\nNeuroscience and the Law\nIn the Dark Podcast and Investigative Journalism\nCivil Access to Justice and the Pro Se Project\nSupreme Court Update\n\nIn addition\, our keynote speaker this year is Professor Christopher Lehman\, a professor of ethnic studies at St. Cloud State University. Professor Lehman’s keynote address is titled “How Free is Free” and will discuss Southern slave owners’ contributions to Minnesota’s growth through the end of the Civil War and Minnesota’s complicit role in the history of slavery.
