This webinar series enables attendees to receive education and mentoring from seasoned immigration attorneys in specific areas of immigration law. Panelists\, Rebecca Scholtz\, Senior Staff Attorney from National Immigration Project\, and Dalia Castillo-Granados Director of Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) will discuss the current state of Special Immigrant Juveniles and Unaccompanied Minors. \nRegistration is now closed\n  \nPresented by the Immigration Law Section \n  \n\nPresenters\nRebecca Scholtz\, Senior Staff Attorney\, National Immigration Project \nRebecca Scholtz\, based in Minneapolis\, Minnesota\, comes to NIPNLG from Catholic Legal Immigration Network\, where as a senior attorney with the Defending Vulnerable Populations Program she provided training and technical support to immigration practitioners focusing on issues related to Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and unaccompanied children in removal proceedings. Rebecca previously worked at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid where she represented unaccompanied children and provided training\, technical assistance\, and advocacy on children’s immigration issues. She is a faculty fellow at the University of St. Thomas School of Law and previously taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School. Rebecca clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and is a graduate of Yale Law School and Middlebury College.\n \nDalia Castillo-Granados\, Director\, Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) \nDalia Castillo-Granados is the director and co-founder of the Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA)\, a project of the American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on Immigration. Dalia is a frequent speaker on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and led the effort at the ABA to advocate for deferred action for SIJS youth stuck in the visa backlog. Prior to working at CILA\, Dalia was a senior attorney at Kids in Need of Defense\, a staff attorney at Tahirih Justice Center\, a clinical supervising attorney at the University of Houston’s Immigration Clinic\, and a Greenberg Traurig\, LLP Equal Justice Works fellow at Catholic Charities’ Cabrini Center. Throughout her career\, Dalia has represented hundreds of children in their immigration proceedings and before Texas state courts. Dalia is also active in her community.
