SUMMARY:Social Security Law Section: Update on Centralized Scheduling for Social Security Hearings
DESCRIPTION:In the past few years\, the Social Security Administration has changed its procedures for scheduling hearings. Scheduling is a complex process involving multiple hearing participants providing and coordinating availability. On Thursday\, May 23\, Judge Tanya Garrian will discuss the centralized scheduling process and how OHO is enhancing the process by which representatives provide their availability. Hear about the new Representative Portal where reps can directly submit their schedules instead of emailing them to Social Security. Join us on May 23\, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET for a free informational session via Microsoft Teams on the new scheduling procedures. Questions are invited in advance of the program; please email sections@fedbar.org. \nPresented by the Social Security Law Section. \nOur speaker will be Deputy Associate Chief Administrative Law Judge Tanya Garrian. \n \nJudge Garrian is a Deputy Associate Chief Administrative Law Judge for National Service Delivery (NSD). Since 2020\, Judge Garrian has worked extensively with National Scheduling Support (NSS) to improve scheduling. Prior to joining SSA as an ALJ in 2010\, Judge Garrian was in private practice for many years as a claimants’ representative. After joining SSA\, Judge Garrian worked in multiple Hearing Offices and served as the Hearing Office Chief ALJ for both the Lawrence\, MA and Providence\, RI Hearing Offices.  Judge Garrian received her B.A. from Wesleyan University and her J.D. from Roger Williams School of Law. Judge Garrian believes that her legal background informs her passionate claimant-centered public service perspective\, and she remains grateful for the continued opportunity to serve SSA claimants. \n  \n  \nModerator: Jerrold A.
