DESCRIPTION:Join the Northern/Eastern Oklahoma Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for an insiders’ tour of the Northern District of Oklahoma courthouse. Students will visit the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Probation Office\, learn from the court clerk’s office\, and hear from District and Magistrate Judges. A group lunch with judges and judicial law clerks concludes the event. \nWe are pleased to offer two opportunities for the tour this summer to accommodate both first-half and second-half programs. SUMMARY:Immigration Law Section: Fraud and Willful Misrepresentation Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The panel will discuss the impact of previous fraud/misrepresentation in the immigration law context\, including matters relating to inadmissibility from the U.S. as well as potential removal grounds. We will address common issues that arise including marriage fraud; document fraud; false claims to U.S. Citizenship as well as frivolous asylum applications. The panel will discuss ways to combat allegations of fraud/misrepresentation as well as potential waivers which may be available. \n  \nPresented by the Immigration Law Section \n  \nRegistration is Closed \n\nPresenters\nAleksandar Cuic\, Partner at Brown Immigration Law \nAleksandar Cuic is a Partner at Brown Immigration Law working mainly out of the firm’s Cleveland\, Ohio office. He oversees the firm’s litigation practice focusing largely on removal proceedings but is also well-versed in the firm’s family based and employment based practice areas. He is also an adjunt professor at the Case Western Reserve School of Law. \nHe is a graduate of Bowling Green State University where he majored in International Business and Russian Langauge. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland Marshall School of Law and his Masters in Business Administration from Cleveland State University. He is a frequent presenter before legal and community organziations and has been quoted in various media outlets \nMatthew L. Benson\, Partner at Bartlett & Weigle Co.\, L.P.A \nMatthew L. Benson is a Partner at Bartlett & Weigle Co.\, L.P.A. in Cincinnati\, Ohio\, where he practices primarily in the areas of asylum\, removal proceedings defense\, and family-based immigration. Mr. Benson was previous Chair of the Ohio American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA) Chapter from 2011-2013 and has served on AILA National’s ICE\, EOIR\, and Asylum/Refugee Liaison Committees. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky and graduated magna cum laude from Northern Kentucky University.
