Simpson\, Counsel\, Majority Staff\, U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce\, Science and Transportation\, Aviation Subcommittee \nAlex Simpson serves as Counsel on the Subcommittee on Aviation Safety\, Operations\, and Innovation for Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA)\, the Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation. \nPrior to joining the Committee\, Alex practiced aviation regulatory law for the U.S. Department of Transportation and for Zuckert\, Scoutt\, & Rasenberger LLP. Alex began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable James A. Kenney III of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Before entering the legal field\, Alex worked for Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. \nAlex has a bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College and a law degree from the University of Maryland. He lives in Northwest Washington with his wife and three young children. \nMichael W. Reynolds\, Deputy Director for Aviation and Space Policy\, U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce\, Science and Transportation \nMichael Reynolds is a Deputy Policy Director on the staff of the Senate Committee on Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation and is the team lead for aviation for Ranking Member Roger Wicker (R-MS).  Prior to joining the Commerce Committee in 2015 (under then-Chairman Thune) as aviation counsel\, Mr. Reynolds was a stay-at-home parent living with his family in the Netherlands. \nMike previously worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as an Executive Advisor and at DOT as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Aviation and International Affairs from October 2002 until January 2009.  While at DOT\, he served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for more than two years. \nBefore joining the DOT\, Mr. Reynolds spent seven and a half years serving as aviation counsel on the Senate Commerce Committee. In 1997\, Mr. Reynolds took a six-month leave of absence from his Senate position to serve as General Counsel to the National Civil Aviation Review Commission (also known as the Mineta Commission). Prior to joining the public sector\, Mr. Reynolds worked as a litigator in a prominent law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. \nMr. Reynolds has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Stanford University and a law degree from the College of William and Mary. \nJill Harrelson\, Chief Counsel\, Democratic\, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure\, U.S. House of Representatives \nJill Harrelson is the Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Majority Staff\, where she manages Committee activities including hearings\, markups\, and consideration of legislation on the House floor\, and advises on how to implement the legislative priorities of the Chair. She joined the Committee in 2019 as the Director of Budget/Deputy Counsel before serving in her current role. Prior to joining the T&I Committee\, Jill worked for the Senate Budget Committee for five years\, holding a variety of positions including Counsel and Analyst for Transportation and Revenue. Jill’s career on Capitol Hill spans almost 14 years and prior to her committee work includes serving as a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Matsui and a Legislative Correspondent for Senator Bingaman. \nJill holds a B.A. from the University of New Mexico\, a J.D. from American University\, Washington College of Law\, and an L.L.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. She is currently barred in Virginia and Colorado. \nCorey E. Cooke\, Republican General Counsel\, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure\, U.S. House of Representatives \nCorey E. Cooke serves as the Republican General Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. In this capacity\, she provides strategic guidance on policies and legislation related to the Committee’s portfolio and the priorities of Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO-06)\, oversees Committee operations\, and serves as the lead on matters related to oversight and investigations. \nPrior to this role\, Ms. Cooke served as the Regional Administrator for the Northwest/Arctic Region of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Prior to joining GSA\, Ms. Cooke served in several positions in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate\, including as Counsel and Deputy Parliamentarian for the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. \nShe earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts\, Amherst and a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
