SUMMARY:New Orleans Chapter: Lessons from the Field – Improving Police Practices
DESCRIPTION:Due to the intensification of Hurricane Laura\, the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association has rescheduled this event to September 8th. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please keep those dealing with the impact of Hurricane Laura in your thoughts. \nTuesday\, September 8\, 2020 – 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM CST \nJoin the New Orleans Chapter of the FBA for a CLE directly following our Annual Meeting on September 8. Panelists Mark Giuffre\, Robert Hass\, and Debra Kirby will join moderator Sharonda Williams for this one hour CLE offered on Zoom at 1:30pm CST. \nPolice reform is not a linear process\, but rather an intersection of multiple efforts. Our expert panel of thought leaders has addressed police reform across a range of interventions including court oversight\, collaborative reform and external independent review and investigation. They will speak to the strengths and challenges of these processes in supporting constitutional policing. Not only will the value of current efforts be discussed\, but our panel will also identify common challenges in policing and emerging practices that show promise in aligning policing with the needs of the community. \nIf you are attending the Annual Meeting\, you will stay logged into the same Zoom session.
