Clark Award for Outstanding Government Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE AWARD:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The prestigious Justice Tom C. Clark Award for Outstanding Government Lawyer recognizes the outstanding accomplishments by lawyers of the career service employed by the United States Government in the District of Columbia or by the Government of the District of Columbia. This award is named in honor of Justice Tom C. Clark, a former National President of the Federal Bar Association, for his distinguished career as a government attorney. During his career, Justice Clark served as Attorney General of the United States, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and first Director of the Federal Judicial Center. The District of Columbia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association annually solicits nominees for the award from more than 80 governmental agencies. Chapter of the Federal Bar Association presented Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart with the 57th Annual Justice Tom C. Clark Award for Outstanding Government Lawyer.  The ceremony included remarks from the Attorney General, the Solicitor General, and judges from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Stewart has held the position of Deputy Solicitor General since 2008.  His docket areas include antitrust; attorneys\u2019 fees; customs and international trade; False Claims Act; intellectual property (patent, copyright, and trademark); pollution control (Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act); and securities.  He has presented 102 oral arguments in the United States Supreme Court.  From 1993-2008, Mr. Stewart served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General.  From 1991-1993, he was a member of the Appellate Staff of the Justice Department\u2019s Civil Division.  Before joining the Department of Justice, he served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Patricia M. Wald of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1988-1989) and to Justice Harry Blackmun of the United States Supreme Court (1989-1990).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Previous Recipients of the Justice Tom C.
