Llinas Negret, and I am the Chair of the FBA\u2019s Admiralty Law Section. The Admiralty Law Section is comprised of judges, admiralty practitioners and law students who specialize or otherwise expect to specialize in this niche area of the law. They are committed to advancing the body of law that is admiralty and to assist the FBA and the greater legal community understand the interplay between \u201cland and sea\u201d. The Section is very active and there are plenty of ways to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Officers of the Section, consisting of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, we also have the following Committees that round up our Board:<\/p>\n<p>Publications<br>\nProgramming<br>\nMembership<br>\nOutreach Committee<\/p>\n<p>The Section publishes a quarterly newsletter, <em>Admiralitas<\/em>, which has been awarded several Newsletter awards from the FBA. Our Newsletter generally contains a Circuit-by-Circuit review of the latest cases of interest, feature articles from our members, interviews of admiralty practitioners and announcements of up-and-coming events of interest to the admiralty community. We invite you to submit any articles you may have to either or both of our Publications Co-Chairs.<\/p>\n<p>The Section also does a fair bit of programming, scheduling at least 1 full-day CLE and other smaller CLE events throughout the year. Our Section is always looking to partner with Chapters and other Sections and Divisions to facilitate CLE programming events for our members and have partnered in the past with several sections and chapters, including the South Florida Chapter, the Federal Litigation Section and the International Law Section, to name a few. If you have any ideas for programming, please feel free to reach out to our Programming Chair.<\/p>\n<p>Our Section wants to continue the success of our Writing Competition\u2014this would be our third year. Our Writing Competition is open to all law students, whether current members of the Federal Bar Association or prospective. The idea of the Writing Competition is to highlight the great work of our soon-to-be lawyers in this area of the law and to give them the opportunity to work with our Section in gearing up for their careers.
