A Message from the Section Chair

Welcome o the Health Law Section of the Federal Bar Association, a resource for practitioners in the field of health care law.

I am writing to solicit participation and encourage involvement in the section in an attempt to re-vitalize it. We are in a transitional process and need your help. Our goal is to provide a forum where practitioners representing the spectrum of the health care industry can exchange information and discuss issues affecting health care delivery as well as to provide outreach to beneficiaries and providers on the regulatory and transactional aspects of health care related issues.

As a first step in re-forming the section, the Health Law Section bylaws were re-written to permit a broader committee structure. (Click here for bylaws.) Now I need volunteers to serve on committees and sub-committees. If you feel that we need additional committees, please let me know and we can create an ad hoc committee. I would eventually like to see the Health Law Section offer programming and begin a newsletter addressing matters of law, medicine, public health and bioethics. Current public and private initiatives in the administration of health care certainly generate enough complex legal and ethical issues for material. Our membership is varied and talented. My goal is to tap that resource and generate a collaborative integration of insights garnered from history, law, medicine, philosophy, and the social sciences. So, please pick a committee and help me out. Any other suggestions or ideas are more than welcome. Please respond to dawnliebfba@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
