The Fellows of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association

Established in March 2002, the Fellows of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association are individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the Federal Bar Association. Since the program’s inception, over 180 FBA members have been invited to become fellows. They are nominated by the Fellows Membership Committee and invited to join by the chair of the fellows program or the President of the Foundation. Fellows must be FBA members in good standing and have been a member of the FBA for at least five years. Each fellow must also execute a written pledge of $1,500 to be paid to the Foundation over 10 years. Fellows’ contributions support the Foundation’s mission and help to build the corpus. In addition to supporting the general activities of the Foundation, the Fellows also sponsor an annual silent auction at the FBA’s annual convention. The auction raises funds for the foundation’s activities.

Please contact the Foundation at (571) 481-9100 to learn more or express an interest in becoming a fellow.

2009 Silent Auction

It’s almost that time again—the Federal Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and Convention is upon us and this year will be hosted by the Oklahoma City Chapter in Oklahoma City beginning on September 10, 2009!

The Fellows of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association will once again host a silent auction in conjunction with the FBA’s convention. We’re looking forward to building on the successes of the prior auctions, which have raised over $25,000 for the Foundation over the years.

Bids will be accepted online in the weeks leading up to the convention once we start to receive items, so we ask that you send your items and a completed donation form prior to August 21, 2009. The earlier you send your donated item, the longer individuals will have to view and bid online!

We truly appreciate your support and thoughtful donations. In the past, we have received a wide variety of donations including sports tickets and memorabilia, vacation homes, gift certificates from celebrities, autographed novels and movie or music items, artwork, and wine. We would also love to receive donations from other members of your local chapter, so please encourage them to donate as well.

If you will be donating this year, please complete the Silent Auction Prize Donation Form to let us know what you are sending or bringing with you, a brief description, the value of the item and a picture or website if you have one. You may email the form along with a photo of your item for the website to foundation@fedbar.org.  Or if you prefer, you may fax the donation form to 571-481-9090 and mail your item to Silent Auction 2009, c/o Foundation of the Federal Bar Association, 1220 North Fillmore Street, Suite 444, Arlington, VA 22201, prior to August 21, 2009.

The absolute last day that we will be able to accept donations sent to our office is August 21, 2009. Items may also be sent directly to the hotel, so please contact Lori Beth Gorman if you would like the address and contact information!

Bidding will continue onsite on September 10, 2009 at the Convention once online bidding has closed.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, so all contributions are tax deductible. Please return the completed form to the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association no later than August 21, 2009 if you are able to participate.

Should you have any questions, or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Lori Beth Gorman, at the Foundation. Lori can be reached at 571-481-9102 or by email at lgorman@fedbar.org , and will be happy to answer any of your questions about the Foundation or the Silent Auction.

Thank you, in advance, for participating in this year’s Silent Auction and for continuing to support the Fellows of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. We are looking forward to seeing you at the convention in September!
