Michelle Hamilton-Burns
She is currently a United States Magistrate Judge in Phoenix, Arizona, appointed to the Bench on March 1, 2007. Previously she worked in the U.S. Attorneys Office, white collar crime unit, and before that spent 11 years in private practice. She has spent 22 years as a trial attorney, with over 70 jury trials in county and federal courts, including several appeals to the Arizona and the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, complex securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy litigation. Education: 1981 BA, University of Michigan; 1985 JD, University of Toledo. FBA Activities: She has been editor of Sidebar, the Federal Litigation Section newsletter, and was Chair of the Section from 2004-2007. She was Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Phoenix Chapter, with a membership of 250. During 2001/2002, and 2005/2206 she received Presidential Citation and Excellence Awards from the National Organization. FBA member: 11 years.
