A Message from the Chapter President

The inaugural year of the Eastern District of New York Chapter was marked with successful ventures. Through the efforts of Program Director, Asst US Attorney Cynthia Monaco and President-Elect Robert Rando, the Chapter sponsored several CLE Programs on topics ranging from Judicial Ethics, the perils and pitfalls of cease and desist letters and bad decision-making in filing for declaratory or injunctive relief, the Department of Justice's aggressive prosecution of business crimes and the Thompson/McNulty memos; and the Automatic Stay Provisions Of The Bankruptcy Laws. The Chapter enjoys strong support from the EDNY bench as they honored to have significant participation from the District Court Judges and Magistrates on panels and presentations. The Chapter especially recognizes the efforts of U.S. Judge Joanna Seybert and U.S. Magistrate Arlene Lindsay for their strong and continuing support of the Chapter. The Chapter also co-sponsored with the SDNY Chapter a reception and dinner for the International Association of Judges during their Annual Meeting in New York City, which was attended by leading jurists from Australia, Asia and South America as well as members of the New York federal bench.
