The District
of Columbia Chapter of the
Federal Bar Association
was chartered in 1952. The
chapter's geographic boundaries
are the District of Columbia.
The largest chapter in the
FBA, the D.C. Chapter has
more than 1,200 members.
Membership in the D.C. Chapter
is open to FBA members practicing
or residing in the greater
D.C. metropolitan area.
Chapter members come from
private practice, government
agencies, military branches,
local law schools, and local
courts. The chapter is committed
to meeting the needs of
the federal practitioner
through luncheons, CLE programs,
and social events. If you
have not already done so,
I invite you to join the
Federal Bar Association
and the District of Columbia
Chapter.

The DC Chapter board meeting is open to all, and
runs from 6:45-8:00 pm on every third Tuesday of the month. We meet in
the DC Bar building basement on 1250 H Street, NW. Pizza, soda and coffee

The First Annual Alan B. Levenson Symposium on Emerging and Cutting Edge
Legal Issues
Presented by the Alan B. Levenson Foundation in conjunction with the D.C.
Chapter of the FBA
The symposium will consist of two panels on important legal issues of
the day and the presentation of the first Alan B. Levenson Award, which
commemorates those who most exemplify the high ethical and legal standards
that Alan B. Levenson practiced in his many years in the public and private
sectors.
Panel 1: Calling Balls and Strikes: The Role of the Federal Judiciary
in the Adversary System

D.C. Chapter Presents Douglas N. Letter With
Justice Tom C Clark Award
The Justice Tom C. Clark Award is presented annually by the D.C. Chapter
to a federal career attorney who has achieved excellence in the performance
of his or her duties. The Award is named in memory of Tom C. Clark, former
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, former Attorney
General of the United States and first Director of the Federal Judicial
Center. Justice Clark also served as a National President of the Federal
Bar Association.
The Honorable Richard Leon, District Court Judge, U.S. District Court
for the District of Columbia, will present the Justice Tom C. Clark Award
to Mr. Letter.
Location: U.S. Federal Courthouse for the District of Columbia in the
Ceremonial Courtroom on the 6th floor
Time: 5–7 p.m.
