A
Message from the Chapter President
The John W. Peck Cincinnati Chapter
of the Federal Bar Association was
founded in 1958. In 2000, the chapter
adopted and merged with the Northern
Kentucky region of the Kentucky
Chapter to become the John W. Peck
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter.
Our membership of 170 includes most
of the federal and magistrate judges
in the two districts, along with
attorneys who practice in both the
public and private as well as civil
and criminal sectors.
The chapter prides itself on fostering
understanding, camaraderie, and
mutually supportive relationships
between the federal bench and bar
through regular events like an annual
judges' night (a dinner mixing judges
and lawyers), bench/bar conferences,
and a variety of CLE programs in
which judges participate. The chapter
conducts a preparation seminar for
the Southern District of Ohio's
licensing exam and holds several
luncheons a year with noteworthy
civic and government speakers.
Our members are committed to serving
the surrounding community. Members
donate both legal and personal services
in a variety of ways such as taking
part in school reading programs,
regularly serving hot meals at a
downtown shelter, and, recently,
by establishing a program to provide
pro bono legal services in
federal pro se civil cases.
In 2004, the chapter proudly hosted the Federal Bar Association's Annual
Meeting and Convention here in the Queen City.
