Community Outreach

The Section on Taxation is committed to giving back and helping the community. We will have various volunteer opportunities in 2016 and we hope both Section members and non-members will join us in these activities.

Section members will have the opportunity to participate in pro bono tax work through a local low-income tax clinic. This will allow volunteers to not only work with individuals in the community but also gain valuable trial-related experience in the United States Tax Court.

Previous events:
On April 5, 2016, the Section on Taxation facilitated an FBA National Community Outreach Project. Volunteers led high school students from the District of Columbia on an educational visit to the United States Tax Court for the school day. The students learned about how our federal court system works, heard from attorneys and Judges on their career paths, and met with members of the Section on Taxation for one-on-one interactions.

On June 30, 2016, members gave back to the community through Habitat for Humanity. Section members spent the day helping build homes in underprivileged neighborhoods in the District of Columbia.
