SPOTLIGHT ON A NEW BOARD MEMBER: Stephanie Moncada Gomez, Section Secretary

Stephanie is an attorney in Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton’s complex litigation department and international practice. Her experience includes representing international clients in matters brought in U.S. federal and state courts. Stephanie was part of the team that represented two Cuban-born Americans in a federal lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Lines, for violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by discriminating against a class on the basis of national origin. Ultimately, Cuba changed its policy of banning Cuban-born individuals from traveling to Cuba by ship, and now Cuban-born Americans can book and go on Carnival’s cruises to Cuba. Stephanie is fluent in Spanish, has limited proficiency in French and works with the firm’s international client base. Stephanie received her B.A. with honors from the University of Miami, where she was president of the Pre-Law Advisory Club. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, she was the editor in chief of the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy and the chair of Intramural Competitions of the University of Florida Trial Team.
