Eileen M.G. Scofield, Treasurer

Eileen Scofield received a B.A. from the University of Hawaii in 1981 and a J.D. from the University of Georgia in 1985, where she was the recipient of the Hatton Lovejoy Scholarship and was Recent Developments Editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.

She is a frequent international and national public speaker and published author of numerous articles primarily on business related immigration. She is a member of the Georgia and Atlanta Bar Associations, and a national member, as well as local committee chair, of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is also a member of numerous organizations which advise Congress on business and immigration issues, such as the National I-9 Coalition. In addition, she regularly coordinates immigration and tax matters for high net worth planning.

Eileen was selected to be included in the 2005-2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers and Partners. Recent highlights of her work include:
  • Invited Speaker, International and National; industry wide conferences on Immigration Compliance Issues, in Germany, Mexico, Canada, Philadelphia, Boston, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Kansas, California, Tennessee, Utah, Illinois, Georgia, etc. 
  • Manages national immigration practice, including incoming and outgoing visa processing, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Labor immigration related matters, U.S. citizenship issues, employer required Form I-9 and employment authorization matters. Coordinates and leads immigration strategy for high net worth and other intermediate concerns. 
  • Managed over 30 Department of Homeland Security, FDNS, Department of State, and DOL investigations/audits on behalf of clients. Oversaw a 5-agency federal investigation, along with an internal investigation. Provided advice to clients on audit response, internal processing, follow-up and conclusion. 
  • Managed over 15 Social Security Administration audits; coordinated efforts of corporate record keeping, hiring procedures, verification programs, etc. 
  • Established corporate policies and procedures, in both ongoing, restructuring and transactional situations, to both comply with the law and prepare for sensitive internal and external investigations related to hiring procedures, electronic Form I 9 compliance, employment of foreign nationals, IRCA compliance and Office of Special Counsel national origin discrimination issues; address issues of philosophy, record keeping, documentation, compliance, documented use, penalties, enforcement. 
  • Undertook internal investigations on behalf of clients in an effort to assess compliance with immigration, employment and discrimination laws; address issues of personnel files, documentation retention policies, potential liability arising from investigations, privacy issues, workplace monitoring, and work with the company to develop new policies and procedures to avoid losses and/or damages. 
  • Provided "outsourcing" advice in ways which protect the fluid movement of knowledge and key people.

Hon. Mimi E. Tsankov, Secretary

Mimi E. Tsankov is an Immigration Judge at the Denver Immigration Court. She is a frequent speaker at local and national immigration law conferences, serves as a national EOIR Pro Bono Committee Liaison Judge, and is the FBA Chapter liaison member to the Colorado Supreme Court Commission on the Legal Profession.
