The Bankruptcy Section of the Federal Bar Association originated decades ago. In 1983, the existing Federal Litigation Council, which included a bankruptcy subdivision, was formally organized as an FBA Section. The bankruptcy subdivision became the Bankruptcy Committee at that time, and continued as such until 1991, when the Bankruptcy Section was officially established.

Today, members of the Bankruptcy Section include more than 1,000 of the nation's leading bankruptcy lawyers, bankruptcy judges, federal lawyers, general counsel and law professors. And we are geographically diverse, with members in 41 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
