The chapters of the Federal Bar Association are committed to assisting members of our community affected by the recent flooding. Here is a listing of resources available to those in need –
SOLACE - The Louisiana State Bar Association’s SOLACE program is accepting assistance requests for non-monetary needs from those affected by the severe weather. Requests can be for gift cards, furniture, office space, temporary housing, food, etc. Requests for assistance will be circulated to the 20,000 plus SOLACE members. If you or someone you know needs assistance, forward your request to SOLACE at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include an email address that protects the sender's identity. For more information on the SOLACE program, click here.
Office Needs - For members of the legal community in New Orleans, the Attorney Conference Center is available to those in need of a computer, conference room, photocopier, and fax. Please call the New Orleans Chapter of the FBA at (504) 589-7990 for information.
Donations - The New Orleans Chapter will hold a Gift Card Drive to assist with immediate needs and rebuilding. There will be a collection at their Annual Meeting on August 25, and any denomination will be appreciated. Gift cards for food, supplies and clothing, such as Target, Walmart, or grocery stores, and rebuilding supplies, such as Home Depot or Lowes, will be most helpful. All gift cards will be donated to SOLACE. If you are unable to attend the Annual Meeting, you can send a gift card to the attention of CC Kahr (500 Poydras Street, Suite B-245, New Orleans, 70130).
The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation has been designated by the Louisiana State Bar Association as a repository for monetary donations for the legal services community.
The Lafayette Bar Foundation and the Lafayette Bar Association have also established a program to provide assistance to Lafayette Bar members and their staffs.
