U.S. Senate Confirms Two to Federal Bench

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012 the United States Senate confirmed two more nominees to the federal bench.

The U.S. Senate confirmed FBA member and Tulsa attorney John Dowdell to the federal bench by a unanimous vote of 95-0. Dowdell has been with Norman Wohlgemuth Chandler & Dowdell in Tulsa since 1983 where he focuses on complex litigation and appellate litigation.

Dowdell is a current member of the FBA's Northern/Eastern Oklahoma Chapter and Alternative Dispute and Federal Litigation Sections.

Following Dowdell's confirmation, Jesus G. Bernal was confirmed by the Senate to the bench in Riverside, California. A graduate of Yale and then Stanford Law School, Judge Bernal worked in the Federal Public Defender's Office in Riverside. He becomes the second judge in Riverside, and will serve along side Judge Virginia Phillips, who, since 2009, has been the lone judge overseeing nearly 4.2 million people.
